Going for Gold at Woodlands House - 7 Apr 2017
It is with great excitement that we can announce Woodlands House is working towards accreditation for the Gold Standards Framework in End of Life Care. Woodlands House is known for providing excellent quality end of life care. However, we feel it is time to move to the next level by working towards the Gold Standards Framework (GSF).
The GSF is a training programme and is the most widely-used programme of its kind in UK care homes, supporting elderly residents as they near the end of their lives. It focuses on organisation and systems change within the home and leads to quality assurance and recognition through a rigorous accreditation process. The GSF supports better quality of care, proactive planning, works with GPs, staff morale, more advanced care planning and reduced (usually halved) hospital deaths. Most importantly, it ensures that when someone is nearing the end of their life, they receive the very best quality care and support for both the individual and their loved ones.
The Woodlands House team started this programme on the 21st March 2017 and the Home will be working towards the GSF for the next eighteen months to accreditation. Along the way, we will be learning new styles, gaining more knowledge within the team and improving systems and processes.
As a Home we would like to remind people that may be reading that End of Life care can still look like the pictures we post everyday on our social media pages, depending on prognosis.
If you would like more information about the programme then please do not hesitate to contact Woodlands House directly.
