Happy Christmas from all of us at the Hartford Care family
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at Hartford Care. The Christmas lights are twinkling in all our 14 homes across the south of England and there has been no shortage of volunteer helpers wanting to assist with all the Christmas baking being undertaken by our expert chefs.
Our Christmas theme this year is very much about our children who bring so much love and joy to our residents. Activities this Christmas are therefore focussed on both the families, especially the younger members, of our residents and staff.
Several homes are holding Christmas parties and activities for our children. At Malden House in Sidmouth, Devon, children of our staff are presenting a Christmas Fashion Parade for the residents on Saturday 14th December. The children will be dressing up in Christmas-related costumes for the residents to judge.
Meanwhile, our residents at Boulters Lock in Maidenhead have been getting in some choir practice ready for the home’s children’s party on Monday 16th December which includes a carol concert, an arts and crafts session and a pantomime to finish.
Newland House in Witney, Oxfordshire, which was treated to carols from Blake’s School, holds its Family Christmas Party on Friday 20th December where games, crafts and a raffle will be among the many fun activities.
Tegfield House in Winchester held a special Christmas Crafts Day during which children of our staff made Christmas tree decorations, decorated Christmas cookies and took part in a colouring competition.
At Stokeleigh in Bristol, our residents have been making their own Christmas crackers and have also enjoyed a visit from the children of Bristol’s Steiner School.
Christmas celebrations at the Laurels and Pine Lodge in Poole started with a visit from The Melody Makers Choir in Pine Lodge singing carols old and new, which brought back memories for our residents. The residents were also invited to a Christmas party as the guests of the students of St Edward’s School in Poole.
Hartford Court in Portsmouth has enjoyed a real Christmas treat with a performance from the world-famous Royal Marines Band at the care home, while children from Fernhurst School will be coming in to entertain us all with a carol concert.
Bethel House in Barton-on-Sea has its residents’ Christmas Party on Thursday 19th December when Santa will make an appearance handing out gifts.
West Cliff Hall in Hythe again entered a Christmas tree in the St John’s Church Christmas Tree Festival which is held annually to raise money for local charities in the area. There’s plenty going on down there with a Christmas Market taking place on Saturday 14th December together with parties for both our residents and our staff’s children.
Woodlands House residents have their Christmas party on Thursday 19th December. But the home’s drama group is now rehearsing for their second ever Christmas pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, which they will present on Christmas Eve (24th December) at 3pm.
On the Isle of Wight, our residents of Highfield Nursing Home have been entertained by children from the nearby Ryde School singing Christmas carols.
Residents at Springfield Nursing Home will be enjoying their Christmas Party on Monday 16th December when the choir from Bay Primary School will be singing carols. Over in Bembridge, the Christmas trees have been decorated and their lights switched on at The Elms Nursing Home.
Before Christmas, all our residents and staff will be putting on their festive finery for Wear Your Best Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 19th December in aid of Hartford Care’s chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.
Please visit the Facebook pages of all our homes to see how the Hartford Care family is celebrating the most wonderful time of the year.
From all of us here at Hartford Care, we wish you all a very happy Christmas.
