New Charity Partner Revealed at Hartford Care - 2 May 2019
Leading Care Home provider, Hartford Care, is proud to unveil its chosen charity for the year: Macmillan Cancer Support. The charity was chosen following a staff vote across all 14 homes and head office within the Hartford Care family.
Under the leadership of CEO Sean Gavin, Hartford Care’s mission is to provide care, comfort and companionship in an environment that is safe and happy for all, and the chosen charity is integral to those values.
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and it provides specialist health care, information and emotional and financial support to people affected by cancer. There are over 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK and this is set to grow to almost 4 million by 2030.
Hartford Care homes actively encourage a supportive and fun lifestyle for residents, relatives and family carers while delivering residential, nursing, dementia and day care services.
Fundraising plans and activities are currently underway across the Hartford Care family to promote the charity and raise funds for the charitable cause. Macmillan Cancer Support will also provide valuable information and resources about living with cancer to those who live and work at the care homes and their loved ones.
As the Hartford Care group prepare for a year of exciting activities, an upcoming highlight will be the ‘Longest Day Golf Challenge’, organized by Macmillan.
On Thursday 20th June, CEO Sean Gavin together with Ian Finnie, Richard Gamble and Sam Blundell will play four rounds of golf. Setting off at first light, the team who are nicknamed the ‘Hartford Heroes’ will walk over 20 miles. The challenge will be completed at Sherfield Oaks Golf club in Hook, Basingstoke.
Speaking before the event, Sean Gavin, says ‘we’re really excited about taking on this year’s Longest Day Golf Challenge. We’re looking forward to raising money for Macmillan that will provide support those who live with cancer as well as those who are affected by it in other ways; cancer touches so many of our lives. I know all the staff across our 14 care home locations will be keen to raise as much money as possible in the coming months, to make a difference!
By playing 72 holes and doing over 20 miles of walking in one day, this team of golfing legends will raise money to endorse the worthwhile charity.
