Manager's Letter

I started my career in Health and Social Care at 16 and have dedicated my working life to the field. I cannot envisage a career with more interests, challenges and changes than this and the positive difference that it is possible to make is an incredible reward.

During a varied career I have worked in the community, in hospitals, in mental health units and in elderly care settings, in each place, devoting my time to improving the lives of those I support and working with people to remain as independent as they are able whilst ensuring their safety and promoting their happiness. It is a passion and a journey of constant learning in both academic and emotional senses.

Throughout the progression of my career I have undertaken any and all courses and training available to me as I strongly believe that a broad knowledge base is a firm footing on which to build a great service. The latest formal qualification which I achieved was a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care.

As a Home Manager I have lead teams to engage with the values and beliefs of the Company’s who employ us as well as my own goals and ideals but most importantly, those of the people we support. I feel that the provision of care should be for the betterment of lives and, as such, must be completely tailored to those receiving it. My personal goals align with those laid out by The Care Quality Commission (CQC) who regulate and inspect care settings. As a Home Manager, I have never lead a service through a CQC inspection which yielded less than a good rating in all five domains.

In my personal life I am a mother, a wife, a sister, an aunty, a cousin and a friend. All of the people in my life are so very important to me and I give them all of my time outside of the working environment as nothing gives me more joy than seeing those I love, happy. Together we love to play silly games, spend time in the woods and the countryside, read, watch movies and travel… we really love to travel. At this point I have visited 52 countries all over the world but there is so much more to see!
